Workshop by the European Commission on Erasmus+ Opportunities for Higher Education (13 Oct 2015)

Erasmus+ is the European Union's new programme to support education, training, youth and sport. It has a strong focus on higher education and on cooperation between Europe and other parts of the world. It provides funding for cooperation projects and for student and staff mobility to and from Europe. Projects are selected each year under Calls for Proposals – the 2016 selection will be launched in October 2015.

The European Union Delegation to Singapore is organising an information session for Singapore higher education institutions (HEIs) on international opportunities available under the Erasmus+ programme. A speaker from the European Commission in Brussels will explain what is available and how to get involved in as a partner in one of these projects:

1. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees Your university can be part of an international consortium offering an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programme (EMJMD) in which students study in at least two of the participating HEIs and receive a joint or double/multiple degree. The EU funds scholarships for students to take part, and HEIs receive a contribution to the cost of managing the joint programme.

2. Mobility schemes with one or more European HEIs Your university can conclude an agreement with a European HEI to send your students, doctoral candidates or staff for short-term mobility to the European partner institution. Under the same agreement, your university can host European students, doctoral candidates or staff.

3. Promoting excellence in EU studies The Jean Monnet activities support academic teaching and research (Chairs, Modules and Centres of Excellence), cooperation projects, conferences and publications in the field of EU studies.
