Dr Lily Chan

Dr Lily Chan leads NUS Enterprise at the National University of Singapore (NUS) with the vision to inject an enterprise dimension to NUS teaching and research involving the University’s students, staff and alumni. The Enterprise Cluster comprises several divisions dedicated to the implementation of a holistic innovation & entrepreneurship ecosystem, including technology commercialisation, experiential education, and entrepreneurship support.

As the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Chan spearheads strategies and initiatives to promote the spirt of enterprise, including: the Lean Launchpad@Singapore programme, which trains researchers in technology commercialisation; the NUS Overseas Colleges programme, which provides start-up internships and entrepreneurship courses in six overseas locations (Silicon Valley, New York, Stockholm, Israel, Beijing, and Shanghai); and the NUS-initiated Blk71, the university’s off-campus incubator that has quickly become Singapore’s start-up hub. In January 2015, Block 71 San Francisco opened as an overseas launchpad for growth-stage ventures, helping to link the Asian and US markets.

Prior to joining NUS in 2006, Dr Chan held the position of Managing Director, Investments, of Bio*One Capital Pte Ltd, an investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board focused on expanding the biomedical science industry in Singapore. Dr Chan has more than 20 years of industry experience, from initiating start-ups and venture investments, to active Board involvements in many start-up companies. She sits on several national-level committees on enterprise and innovation.
